Took the beetle out for a little test run to pick up coffee on Sunday and what a difference the new shocks made. It previously was a bit skittish when going over a large bum or pot hole but it glided over everything in its path.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been making the most of the final stretch of dry weather before winter sets in by hitting up some local club meets. Caught some epic VWs and connected with some great people in the scene
I did have a bit of a problem with my fuel pump leaking but I manged to fix it by flattening off each of the surfaces with some sand paper, re tapping the threads and putting some Loctite on the bolts.

I picked up some parts on the weekend for the beetle. They came off a black 1958 Swedish car that was pretty much exactly the same as mine but with a few more accessories.
- Rear floor mat
- Wiring cover (out of a 61 I believe), On the look out for a 1958 Grey one. If anyone has one available please reach out.
- Original wheel L41 black outer lip. Trying to put together a set to get them on the car.

After:
I used the iron and some steam to pop out the center. Seems super battered but still functional. Might end up selling and continue searching for the right one.
I also received my delivery of the about time oil filler. Super stoked to have this and think it is a cool and functional.

Bonjour,

After about 14 months of looking for a set of OG wheels for the 58 I managed to secure a full set as well as some firestone whitewalls.
This is a spare I picked up from another Swedish L41 58 beetle in the UK, it was cool to see how similar it was to mine with some matching accessories. Cleaned the front and back up with some jif/cif and gave it a polish.
This is the new wheel sitting next to my other spare form the car. Crazy to see similar wear patterns and lack of paint they put on the center from factory.
This is the full set I purchased from LosCreepers in the Netherlands. So stoked to have a full set or original wheels to put on the car. I know it means only good weather summer driving going forward.
I will get some photos up of the full car in the next few weeks. I just couldn't wait to share. Interesting that all the OG wheels I have do not have any date stamp. |

Pulled the beetle out and managed to get the last rear wheel on after removing the wheel Spat.
Here are some photos, it would be great to get it out in the Autumn leaves and sunshine.
I now need to start getting it ready for winter. |

Autumn has firmly taken hold here in the UK, and I couldn’t resist taking the Beetle out for a spin while the weather held out.
Recently I have been looking at eBay for bargains and came across a 1958 instruction manual and had to have it. The cover and inside has some notes form the early 60s. Nice to try and read and see what was written down.

I had noticed a H sticker on some Swedish beetles and did some research on the meaning and once I found out what it meant I had to get one for that period correct look.
"Dagen H (H day) was the day, 3 September 1967, on which traffic in Sweden switched from driving on the left-hand side of the road to the right. The “H” stands for “Högertrafik”, the Swedish word for “right traffic”.

I picked up a patina magnet from Autowares, looks good above my AUS split magnet.

That oil filler adapter elbow is awesome.
Do you know what they're called (specifically), or where they can be found?
No tools required, and keeps the car original. Very cool. |

| This car has come a long way since the beginning of your thread. Nice work! The H sticker, rear blinds, and repainted wheels are excellent finishing touches. I am typically not a fan of white wall tires, but they work very well in this instance. Looking forward to more updates. |

I got mine off The Samba from ezcamper. He casts them in the US based upon the original design. Super easy process to buy and simple to install (twist it on).

Thanks, just trying to keep it all period correct and what i like.
The wheels are actually OG paint, didn't repaint them. Sourced form the Netherlands. Took me about 14months to get it all sorted. Fortunately I now have 1 extra so if anyone needs it let me know. |
