Hi, bought this used Gene Berg shifter from a guy here in Germany. He told me he bought it in the early 90s during a holiday trip in California directly from the man himself. I haven't seen any other shifters with this large moulded lettering so far. Most of the polished shifters I know have the small moulded Gene Berg lettering. I really like the shifter and I don't plan to sell it, but I wonder if this model is rare. Perhaps someone knows something about it?
Cheers from Germany
Holger

Rare is a relative term.

I think the vast majority of GB shifters found in use today have the smaller, more discreet "Gene Berg" logo cast into the side of the handle base. The version you have, with the large, prominent "GENE BERG" molded lettering (which often looks almost like a throwback to earlier muscle-car shifters), was produced in much smaller quantities or for a specific, shorter production run. |

| Thanks for your assessment. That’s what I thought too. If you google „gene berg shifter“, you will find a ton of different handles but not a single picture like this one. I wonder if someone can date it more precisely. |
