In the Disney cartoon of the three pigs, one has a picture on the wall that says “Father” and is a picture of sausage. _________________ Prosit!

My neighbor saw my 77 bus and said “I used to have one of those”. Then later sends me these photos taken about 1972. He says he had the louvered windows and new sunroof canvas installed. He can’t recall what year it was. Sold in California in the 70s. He loved it. Hope it survived. |

So cool, he looks so young. What state did he live in and please get more stories of adventures. Fried egg turn signals, 23 windows is that a 62 or 63?

| Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

Text I found
| Quote: |
Growing up we had eight kids in the family. Through the years we had a series of VW busses, and one squareback.
Tons of memories from our trips in the various busses.
This photo is from around 1970. Mom,Dad and the eight of us kids (I’m at the base of the ladder). Not sure what year this bus was, but we loved it. We drove all of them till the floorboards rotted out of them.
Dad was running for State Representative, hence the “luggage rack/sign holder” on the top of the bus.
We drove that bus from Ohio to Connecticut one summer. Dad drilled two holes in the bumper and put a trailer hitch on it. We towed a pop up camper behind the bus.
We got as far as Allentown, Pennsylvania when the bus blew the engine. We found a repair shop there and put up the camper in their parking lot and stayed there till they replaced the engine.
A few days later when we we were back on the road, the rear bumper broke from the weight of the trailer. Dad stopped at a hardware store and bought a bunch of rope and tied up the bumper, running the rope through the doors and windows. |
