Thanx guys. yes the night shot really shows the huge difference between Ruby Red and Cadmium Red (wheel hub color). The wheels are much darker and it sure makes a difference. VW was very well aware of this design element before 1964. After that, things changed and became more subdued, or boring, if you will. The late 60s brought a completely different aesthetic approach. Black and white or silver wheels and flat hubcaps without any painted logos. I prefer the 54-63 style.

edit: my friend Phil's reply got missing, but I will post this anyways.

Hey Phil, was great meeting and chatting with you last Friday, your 67 std ragtop looking sharp as ever.
Looking forward to seeing the welding progress on your Ruby Red Variant. Let me know when you have time, would love to come check it out soon.
We are absolutely going to fulfill our agreement on your maiden Variant drive, Jozy and me will be ready for support team !
It was also great when we parked our 67 lookers next to each other. Very Happy

this is off topic here, but just as a reminder and in anticipation, how it's gonna look with our L456 babes together.... Wink Cool

Always good talks between us about cars and the world Very Happy.

As agreed that night by handshake my virgin roll out in a Type 3 will be with my 1962 Ruby Red Variant and Josephine behind.

Funny how two early T3´s are parked just a stone chip away. Very Happy
