Plumbing my fram filter

Hi folks I am going to be running this fram filter on my 1641 dual port and I was wondering if I could buy the hoses and fittings and build the set up?I plan on putting a T at oil pressure switch and also the drain will go into the generator stand.do I need to run a restricter or anything inline?thanks

That looks to be a full flow oil canister...if it is ..you do not want to add or put the drain return on the generator stand full flow oiling needs to be put in the oil galley in the case where it needs to flow all the oil ..only bypass canister you can add the drain to the generator stand to different setups ...

How do you even tell if it’s a full flow or bypass?I know it’s uses 1/4 npt fittings.ive had people say it’s a full flow some say a bypass

On the canister decals / stickers will tell you most of the time ...but from the looks of it it's full flow because of the fitting inline and bottom outline are bigger for bigger full flow oil lines which bypass canister the fitting lines are small .....

The fittings are a bit bigger on full flow filters vs the bypass. Bypass is 1/4"NPT vs 3/8"NPT on full flow filters.

Also the inside of the canister has differences. At least on the filters I've looked at closely, the center pipe on the bypass is just a smooth tube whereas on the full flow it has drilled out holes along its length and there is a sort of spring loaded relief valve inside the tube itself.

And most full flow canisters seem to have that oil drain plug at the bottom of the canister...bypass canister seem not to have that ...
