Bob's Bus is in the latest issue (Summer 2025) of VW Trends, which puts a nice capstone on the project.

Well, I put my bus up for auction. The event is next week, it's at CCP in Ontario. (see auction link here https://ccpauctions.hibid.com/lot/270773922 ) It's always been a lovely and clean Canadian bus, just freshly restored by German Supply in Southern Ontario. I hope it finds a great new owner.

| Hi great bus but I am curious and surprised to see it put up for auction. Did you decide to go in a different direction or with a modern camper? |

Bit of both, not getting any younger, kids have grown up, wife has no interest... combination of a lot things I guess. Not easy to let her go since the bus turned out so perfect, but it's time. _________________ 1971 Westfalia Campmobile

| I know the feeling at 74 years old. Good luck with the auction, a 71 that nice should bring a lofty figure. |

Bummer doesn't capture it exactly. Bittersweet maybe. Bob has been an amazing person to work with and we built a very beautiful Bus together. A bit sad the project is closing, proud of the result. Glad I met a really cool person with a great sense of humour and got to work with him.
Not sure what you mean - you think the CSP exhaust looks bad? To me it looks fine, like how it's meant to look I guess. If you're designing an equal length header it's always going to look sort of like a bundle of snakes, not much you can do design-wise to get away from that. The only minor complaint I have is that the outlet pipe points towards the ground, instead of rearward. I think it would be a bit quieter if it pointed aft, it's not annoyingly loud as is, but the sound sort of reflects off the ground. It's a quality product and fits very well, as are most of the things CSP makes. _________________ SL |

It's been a pleasure and a privilege Scott. We've been through a lot over the years together and you built a fantastic bus for me.
As for the CSP Python, it was the best available at the time and I like it. _________________ 1971 Westfalia Campmobile

If it took 12 years to build something like this, I think I'd bounce too. _________________

the CSP exhaust looks spectacular.
That said, I am 75 and think of selling the bus BUT I know that it still has a purpose in my life. Sometimes just going to get a hamburger in an old car is a nice diversion. _________________

That's great, I've had so many old cars, convertibles and vintage bikes over the years and say "I shouldn't have sold that" every time haha... I'm glad you're enjoying your bus, and any excuse to eat burgers is good too. _________________ 1971 Westfalia Campmobile

I am also concerned about the money you may lose in this off market. In fact you could lose twice, once on the bus and once in the stock market with whatever is left, because the markets is showing some overreach. Lots of car models are stagnant compared to this time last year due to many factors. _________________

That's a 2085cc engine?
Looks pretty stock, what carb is that? Looks like the exhaust was modified for heat risers.

Totally, I know a guy who just paid $14k for a very nice ‘58 Beetle. The seller wanted $20k and $12k was the original offer. The seller didn’t take it, but called a few weeks later and countered at $14k. I don’t know how long it was on the market for, but long enough for the seller to take 30% less than he was asking. _________________ __________

Hey, such is life I guess. Hoping someone will enjoy and use it, and if they get a 'deal' because of the current season, a slump in the market or a weird prevailing wind, well then more power to them I guess. _________________ 1971 Westfalia Campmobile

This is not the season to sell a hobby car, Spring is much better. No one wants to buy a new toy, only to put it in storage for 4 months. I'd wait to April. _________________ Glenn

The engine is a 2085 built by Art Thraen before he retired from ACE. The engine was designed to look stock, be dependable and easy to maintain but make good power, especially torque, using a modified 34-PICT3 built by Art, similar to the carbs he used on SCORE cars. And yes the exhaust was modified for heating.
