I can't speak to anyone else's experience, nor Jack's semi-retired status, nor whatever in life he is juggling or what/whom he is dealing with, but I will relay my experience.
If there ARE "plenty of other resources" for these things, I don't see them and they are no longer "growing on trees."
I never heard of TheSamba before, but an ad for a part came up on Google that brought me here. Jack's post was the part I needed. I had no idea of any feedback or Jack, but simply needed the part he advertised.
I contacted him thru Samba/email and told him I would call with the payment & details. His initial response was brief, and I appreciate that. I contacted him next day and gave him my info. He read it all back to me to confirm. I mentioned, more than once lol, that I was in kind of a hurry and needed it soon. He assured me that the part would ship Friday of that week, and I would receive a confirmation email next business day. By about noon on Friday, I received an email from UPS saying they had the package and provided tracking numbers.
The part arrived within a week, and was packed surrounded with extra insulating cardboard, arriving in exactly the condition shown in the ad/as advertised.
Quite honestly, all the other shops I contacted were flaky, far too long to respond to a customer inquiry on a potential sale, and seemed to have zero interest in making a sale, disappearing after a decent exchange of initial inquiry.
I experienced NONE of that with my RecycledJack experience. I was not expecting nor in the mood for a bunch of nicey-nicey coddling or extraneous anything. My back was achy and I just needed the part, so brief was fone with me.
I was not engaging in a personality challenge. I needed the part.
Reminds me of a quote, "You can't hurt my feelings. I used to hold the flashlight for my dad!"
Seems like rudeness is a modus operandi in the entire world today. I am always surprised when I do NOT encounter it!
While it is an honor to embody grace and to be of service/help to others, there are days where, for some life-based reason, that is just not musterable. We all have moments.
My experience with Jack was brief, professional, accurate, timely and efficient with consistent follow-through and follow-up. I would definitely contact him with further needs. If he has the part, he does. If he's in some mood, he is. I have my own. It happens.
All we can do is the best we can do. Occasionally, you'll encounter someone who needs lifting, or compassion, or a kind word. Occasionally, you will be that person.
My experience was 5-star. I ordered it, he shipped it, we communicated, things were smooth and efficient. No problems or issues. Maybe it was a rare occurence, but I doubt it. He has a few pages of "imperfection" here on Samba since 2008. That's 17 years. If I have a sinus headache, I can probably p*ss off that many people just going to the market.
If you think Jack is "rude," and you need a part, maybe put on some big boy/girl pants before you contact him. He IS semi-retired. Plus, you never know what someone else is dealing with, or has gone through - be it recently or even back to childhood - or how their own kindness is/has been treated or responded to, or what aches and pains they are navigating while navigating a rude/selfish world and life.
My guess is that if he has managed to offend 3 pages, actually about 2, of people in 17 years' time, there must have been an absolute Ton of satisfied customers in those years, too.
If his shop isn't surrounded by in-process older cars, he IS semi-retired! Plus, these things aren't growing on trees anymore.
Maybe he is just doing the best he can on any given day. Like you. Right??!
A LOT of that is falling VERY short of passable nowadays!
Our world is a product of how we ALL act...yes! Even when we think we are "hidden" (a.k.a. cellphones, online, etc.) No wonder our world is in the state its in.
"Man is a rational animal. He can think up a reason for anything he wants to believe." --Anatole France
I would add that that is one of mankind's biggest failings, for it prevents them from seeing the Truths clearly, or at all...and, hence, the world as it is today.
"Welcome to the desert of the real." --Morpheus, The Matrix
I would certainly try Jack for any other needs. Maybe he'll be in a great mood! Maybe not. It's always worth a try.
One of my own fave quotes is, "Leave others alone. Not everybody is like you."
I would add, "Not everybody is here to "shower you with likes" either.
You're going to experience Many more rude people on this current planet. I had none of it in my experience witn RecycledJack. |
