Can someone explain why a convert went this low. It does not look that bad. What am I missing? _________________ Ghia again...after 48 years

Perhaps the '74, with the late bumpers, large lights and such, is just not appealing to the deep-pocketed lowlight purists. _________________ Theory and Practice are ALWAYS Identical...theoretically... |

Sold for $10k less than first BAT go around.
Seems like seller had their fun and are selling to make room for another toy.
It's a beautiful build. Full of top shelf parts with a great eye for detail.
No Reserve auction.
This was sellers first auction. I get the impression the sale might be to settle an estate. No evidence. Just a feeling.
If you need to unload a Ghia with little to no hassle BAT is the way to go.
The new owner got a nice one for a good price.
This one sold in July of 2019 for $12k. This time it goes for $16,499. Well bought but it appears to have some issues with the floor pans.
Unless the big bumper KG's are low mileage museum examples or well modified they don't seem to get the same attention.
Ghia prices seem to have softened over the last year or so.
All I know is if you are in the market and the right car comes up bid to win. |

So, King, I am thinking about putting our car on BAT. Looks like you’ve created a great resource with this thread to discuss this. Is it worth all the posting effort to sell a KG through BAT or, given that time is not of the essence, is something like Hagerty a viable outlet? _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

It seems BAT or Hagarty would both be contenders. However, I think more eyes are on Bring a Trailer.
If I were ever to sell I definitely feel it would be worth the upfront hassle.
BAT offers photography services for an additional fee. Not sure about Hagarty.
Other than dealing with commenters ( ) the freedom of not dealing with scammers and/or tire kickers through other on-line for sale outlets would be worth it to me.
I would highly suggest reaching out to theghiagirl or Brauckuche. They have sold Ghia's on BAT and can give you some more information that I can't as a buyer.
One thing for sure, the next caretaker is going to get much better and extremely well documented low- light than what you began with. |

That appears to be a very nice car for the money, but I'm no expert. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”

I agree. It was well bought.
Sure, it has some minor issues but looks to be a solid example. |
