Those holes (which don't go all the way through) always intrigued me. What are they for? Jigs during factory assembly? Drilled out for some applications?

I remember seeing a photo of an early Porsche engine that had a fitting on the bottom hole (I think). That is what started me wondering back then. _________________ Current Fleet:

It's for an optional bracket to mount a second generator or something. _________________ Glenn

Is that fact, or are you speculating on the oil filler stand holes?
I have seen some pretty ingenious additional alt. installations from third world countries. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I don't know where I captured these pics years ago, but there was a double stand available at some point, maybe for ambulances? It was a different casting altogether. But that doesn't mean there weren't other options.
