I run the CB 1399 straight cuts in 2 engines and about to put a set in a third. They are very quiet.
No way those rings are set yet. Stab it in the car a drive it.
Crazy to me that no one runs heat exchangers. |
No heat exchangers because the exhaust is too big. No one makes heater boxes for a 1 3/4" exhaust, and if they did, $$$$$! I have an old Berg 1 5/8" heater box system, and I used to run it. This engine needs a bigger exit. |
Berg has 1 3/4 heater boxes _________________ Jesus Saves

Not according to their catalogue. I talked with Tim just a couple days ago about their 1 5/8” system (because I have one) and they don’t offer them anymore. If they did have them they’d be $1,200+. I imagine a 1 3/4” system would be more. No thanks. I’ll pass. Besides, how many hundreds of cars are out there with similar engines to mine, with 36 hp type fan shrouds and no heat? I don’t need heat. I never drive the car in weather where I’d need it. _________________ Please check my '67 sedan project progress!

Not where I live, Glenn! That's why I don't drive my VW in the winter even if we have some nice weather, which is also a rarity. _________________ Please check my '67 sedan project progress!

Speak to Brian.

I will also never build a driven VW that does NOT have a diesel heater, so the heater boxes become an unnecessary cumbersome limit on the engine.
