sorry for being such late with an idea - i know one 53 convertible that is originally painted L226 silvergray metallic. looks very similar.

Another question, semaphore colour, were they all painted colour matched to car? or lots of them just black? any way to be sure what is correct?

I think if you look at all the Vintage Kabriolett photographs you'll probably see that the semaphore covers are pretty much all painted the body color of the car. Occasionally you see a black cover on a colored car which was probably a replacement, and at the time the owner or shop didn't want to take the time to match paint and paint the arms.. that's my guess anyway.

What or which is the OG piping? The matching pipe,light tan or the dark brown? |
in mine, og piping seems to be :
light Tan on seats
Brown on door panels
As it's impossible to find this material, i decided to work with a tannery to try make new one.
We are know able to mark the leather with the same pattern;
Next step is to set the right color.
After all, it will be possible to work with my upholstery man and get new upholstery as it was in 56'. |
what did happen to these attempts?

Shit, I have a buddy that goes way back that lives a few miles away and I just cant get a minute to visit. With the kids and grandpa kicking around Im pretty limited on what I can get done away from the ranch.
As for the engine its got a freebee GEX 1600, some $100 40DRLAs and home made exhaust. I most of the parts for a SP TW 1835 but might just throw the 1914 from the bug in there for a bit of fun. Just need to bleed the brakes and can finally get it on the road!

Perhaps I've missed it, but has anyone come across or reviewed the WCM/CC reproduced wheel trim rings that our Kabriolett's would have come from the factory with? I and others would love to hear the thoughts on the quality and fit, any issues with these new trim rings. Here is a link...

All of it, car came with a regular saloon semaphore on LHS
