I loved the Celica ST the first time I saw one (1971). Just such a 'correct' looking car. The GT (1974) was an improvement on the ST, afaic, even despite the crash-o-bumpers.
When I first saw a Liftback (aka Fastback) in 1976 I thought, hmm, very Mustang.
I still like the original notchback body style the best. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”

This morning on the other side of a 4 lane divided highway passed a beetle camper conversion. Wouldn't know the difference between an original and a clone. It looked clean, not a hack job. If someone could post a pic of one? _________________ My cut in half and rebuild thread

I haven't seen one of those that appeared to be in running condition for years!
Renault seems to have been a common early EV supplier conversion platform. US Electricar made the Lectric Leopard around 1980. Years earlier Henney Motor Company make the Henney Kilowatt around 1960, based on the Renault Dauphine. I've seen both in running condition, even ridden in an Lectric Leopard. They stuffed 16 golf cart batteries into that thing, good for about 35 to 40 horsepower. I think that's how EVs originally got the reputation for being slow. _________________

Gold Isuzu i - 290 truck
No clue what year cuz I'd never seen one before.
Actually not a bad lookin truck.
ALSO:
A newer-ish (?) Prius. Eh, not too shabby -
as if an Elantra had a go with an Accord or K5. Gone was the scoliosis-like cut off turtle shell.
No pic for no VW content ... stay safe

Was staying in Spokane a couple nights back. Walking from my kid's apartment to the local grocery store, I pass by a daily driver-ish, brown Rolls Royce parked on the street. I've seen it before, but this time it is accompanied by a green Jaguar XKE in the driveway a few feet away. Unreal. Then, at the top of the hill, in the store parking lot sits a near perfect Chevy Chevette 4 door. White with a tasteful orange/red stripe down the side. This was all spotted within four blocks of walking in a part of town that isn't exactly posh. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

I saw two yesterday. One was a perfectly restored late 40’s Ford Woody with 60s era surf boards on top. Driver look to be original owner.
The second one was one of those Waymo self driving cars by Zeekr. The news here in San Diego keeps saying they are coming, but they’re already here. This one was near the airport. _________________ Prosit!
