I have looked everywhere, including the Bentley and there is no information about the front heat diverter flap/cable on early bays.
Does anyone know how to remove this? I am about to get the bus sandblasted and cannot remove this cable, it is the one that is controlled from the seat pedestal. |

There's a nut on the back, once the lower end is loose pull it out and retrieve the nut, put the nut on the cable when reinstalling because you can't do it once the lower end is connected. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

make sure whomever media blasts it has experience with long flat panels. The heat and pressure from media blasting can warp large panels if someone doesn't know what they are doing. _________________

You will be finding sand coming out of every crack and crevice for years to come.
Our has been running for 3 years and every time we take it on the highway we have sand on the back bed _________________ 1973 super 2110cc

I have the upper end disconnected under the seat pedestal, I cannot see how the lower end come out of the front flap, it is in the very small tube before the front X member.
I spoke to the company and they seem confident. It has been done before, but it was an awful job and instead of epoxy they used etch during our wet season, came back during a huge storm, did not last long before rusting |

As I recall there's a clamp on the side of the tube and another on the flap inside it with a set screw. It's been a few years, post a picture to jolt my memory. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

| No clamps, but two metal tabs pressed into dimples to hold the tube in place. It would seem that the little side tube that holds the flap can be removed, hopefully then I can get at the cable end. I will post pics once I have worked it out, seems to be a very uncommon subject for early bays. |

You may have to pry up those tabs and remove the tube (valve assembly), the flap may be spring loaded and the only thing holding the cable sheath into the little side tube (aside from the clevis pin on the flap) is spring tension.

I eventually got it out, the flap is not spring loaded, a simple pull push mechanism.
Unfortunately one arm on the fork snapped, the roll pin was rusted in there, I will use the OG cable when I put it back and use a small nut and bolt |
