Just bought a 56 type I (bug) on a 71 pan. My question is, what year seat bottoms can I use to get that cool low back look? Really didn't wanna weld new tracks (56) but willing is must.
Or, what year seat bottom fit what year seat back? Again, want the correct 56 look.
Or simply said, what year seat bottom will only fit the 71 pan?

Thanks for any help guys! Been out of the VW thing for some years now.
Thanks!
Mark

'71-'72 Highbacks fit those seat rails. You could either go aftermarket, or get the new tracks welded in.

Put the highbacks in, and cut them down. I know that's what a lot of the late model people have been doing to obtain the "early" look.

Its real easy to chisel off the seat tracks. Welding in the correct ones is easy too. I Was getting my 57 ready to lv for a VW show...washing, cleaning etc, I sat in the drivers seat and fell back into the rear seat! The seat tracks came off of the floor. 10 minutes later it was all mig welded back in and stronger than new. Do it!
