Has he gone out of business all of a sudden? I see that his website is no longer up, and all of his ads are gone. I was looking to have my speedo redone by him sometime in the future. (But I guess I cant now)
Anyone know the story?
Thanks

That's a shame if John is no longer in business.
I had the good fortune to have John mildly customise my speedo and oil temp gauges, and also convert my clock to a tach.
Excellent work, all completed in a timely fashion and at a very fair price.
I would never hesitate to promote John and his work.
Let's hope all is well.

My speedo quit working today after 307 miles and third rebuild in as many months. Guess I'll have to send it back, good thing the 3-year warranty is still in effect( I hope ).
Anybody had any luck getting in touch with John? Phone, email, snailmail, anything? _________________ 74 rusto-custom type 1 Sedan - SOLD

This guy is still in hiding... A Samba member actually went by his house and told him about myself, adobo, and
askSTEEVESdtcom, and he had the nerve to act suprised that we were upset! due to the site backup problems we lost our origional post in the feedback section, but here's a link to the new one...

if anyone actually contacts this guy please post it on the above link, or give me a call...

This is complete BS. I sent my gauges to him something like three months ago. Every time I spoke to him I was told they were just about done. That they had been restored and they were in the paint shop. Now I dont get emails returned or phone calls answered. I have tried everything. I paid him the downpayment. Screw the money... I want my gauges back. They will certainly cost a hell of lot more to replace than the deposit I gave him. I will never refer him regardless of how perfect the gauges come out that is of course if I ever see them again. If anyone hears from him please let me know as well. I will return the favor. |

Good luck on getting your guages back.
I tried for months back in 2005 to get Mr. Troia to talk about the 3-year warranty he was offering when my speedo he rebuilt took a crap 3 times. I have my speedo. Granted, it still looks good, but it doesnt work. I gave up. I lost $150 for the original rebuild/paint, plus shipping for 3 times I had to send it back to him. Here's a pic from March 2005-
Best to stick with folks who have been doing rebuilds with a known good reputation, like Orange Empire, or the VDO porsche guage rebuild facility in Ca - http://www.nhspeedometer.com/ . Hell, they offer bright back-lighting similar to indiglo in different colors, but it aint cheap. _________________ 74 rusto-custom type 1 Sedan - SOLD
