I like the look of the duckboards and was wondering who's got em and if you like em.
I see that the Thing Shop sells them and others make them.
Where did you get yours?
Thanks

I sold my Thing a couple years back...but I had duckboards (home made) front and rear and really liked them. How noisey? Come on...you're driving a open air VW... It was probably more a look thing to me. I'm really an accessory kind of guy. I kept them from ratteling around by putting velcro in 6 or 8 places on the bottoms. They really were very functional and looked good! The Thing Shop had a printed catalog out a couple years back and they had a very good, straight on pictures of them (thanks guys). I blew the pics up on my copy machine until they were the right size. I then had full size patterns. I was able to make 2 front and 2 rear using some oak scraps from work for under $25 total. Check out cabinet shops...they are always throwing out tons of wood scraps. Any hard wood will work. They fit perfect and you couldn't tell them apart from originals... _________________ PRAISE THE LOWERED.

I may still have a copy of the patterns I made... I don't want to get in trouble with The Thing Shop... maybe I'll post a pic of the catalog and let you do your own work... _________________ PRAISE THE LOWERED.

I have duck boards, they came with the car when I bought it. I believe they are from The Thing Shop. I like them, they really add something to the plain looking floor. I've had lots of complements.
The don't seem to rattle too much. There are felt strips on the bottom. I believe they come like that from The Thing Shop.
However, the one on the drivers side seems to get in the way of the seat adjustment lever under the seat. It either gets stuck underneeth one of the slats or will sit on top of one and not let the lever drop down into the "locked" position. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else has run into this and fixed it. |

I bought mine on Ebay from Thing Shop for around $100, they dont rattle or move around at all...there are notches in the bottom that lock them onto the floor, they are functional and look good. _________________ 74 Orange Thing
