I have my syncro in the shop now, being inspected for roadworthiness. Everything is fine with three exceptions- one lower ball joint, one tie rod end, and the windshield washer pump. the rod end and ball joint i had on my shelf as spares, but i'm going to have to source a new pump. looking at pics of the windshield pump, it looks the same as the REAR window washer pump...whihc is common to early jettas, golfs, etc. I'd like to just hit the junkyard tomorrow and scarf a good used one out of a water pumper rather than waiting for one from CIP or busdepot.
so, to make a short story long... can i swap out the pump for a rabbit/jetta pump?

| My gut feeling is you can. The tank is Vanagon specific, but the pump is common. I think I had to do that once in the past 13 years. |
