HAs anyone purchased or seen the Brazilian mirrors that Bus Depot is selling for Bays? I like the looks of them and the increased visibility would definitely be a plus on the Westy. I'm wondering how they mount and how durable/sturdy they are though?
I'm going to try to call Ron Monday and get some more info on them but I'd like some opinions if anyone has them. Thanks _________________ '78 Westy

In my opinion, the brazilian mirror looks like ass. The lines of the pivot and the mirror clash with each other. There's no flow at all.
The price is right, but I wouldnt buy it.
Edit: Now this is just odd, why is the picture oriented this way?
The mirror on the top is out 90*, it should be rotated clockwise for an installed view. What happens is you mount the halfmoon cutout in the bracket to the body, secure the bolt to the hole in the door, and then snap the bullnose over top of the bolt.

plus, you'd be substituting black plastic in place of chrome. Keep the chrome ones and leave the black ones for the other buses. |

Well I did ask for an opinion after all. I've got original chrome mirrors on now, but one of them is getting fogged and on the other the plastic around the glass is dry rotted so I figure the glass will fall out soon. I'll probably go with the Hages mirros that they sell. _________________ '78 Westy

Hages mirrors? Are these anything like the bugpack mirrors that are supposed to be a direct replacement for the OEM mirrors? One thing you have to be careful about with repop Bay mirrors is that some of them do not have a provision for a jam nut like the original ones did and you cant position the stem properly. Make sure and look into that before you order it. I almost got caught with one of these mirrors at a show once, luckily they are vacuum packaged and I spent an extra minute looking at it before I caught it. |

it is Hagus. they are the only good replacement mirror. they are made in germany and good quality. not as nice as the orginal, unfortunately, but not bad.
i actually don't mind those black plastic ones so much. for a late bay especially, they would work well aesthetically for me, and not be too "ass-y". _________________ SL |

I think these are about the best I'm gonna find without refinishing my originals. I know what you are talking about with some of the mirrors being sold but these look like they should work.
I thought about adding a set of the black mirrors to my order just to see what they look like in person but I doubt I will. I like the idea of more mirror on a Westy and these look better than most ideas I've seen folks try. I've got to order a fuel filler hose anyways- mine started leaking today dammit. _________________ '78 Westy

I've a pair of Hagus on my bus and the plastic has already cracked which surrounds the mirror in several places and my bus is garage kept! The mirror function works well, however and the chrome is nice. |

they are not as good as the og ones. be careful when tighting the bottom nut as the shaft is not as strong. tighten it up snug, but not too tight. my glass fell out iin our gravel drive way and didnt break. _________________ WANTED:
