My son has a '73 Super Beetle and is having a hard time removing the Struts . They are the type with the 3 hole flange that goes to the spindle. Is there a Secret, magical way of removing them. Guess he has soaked them with "PB Blaster" applied heat and BFH ( Big F'kn Hammer)and they still wont come out of the pocket that's in the spindle.
Any Help ( ideas) would be helpful ?
Thanks

if your only talking propane heat, that won't do too much, make sure the cartrigdes are removed and you could try a real torch.
I'd get a bigger hammer and or an air chisel after it, since your not using the tubes anymore wail away, they should eventually budge.
or get a use set of spindles/struts to work with, 71-73 are plentiful and should be dirt cheap if not damn near free. If you were near me I have several sets from parted out supers! |
