I need Help !

I recently stripped the studs that hold the carb in place on my 74 super. I need to know how to repair these so I can install my carb. I would like to be on the road soon. Any and all suggestions would be of great help.

thanks Laughing

Both of them? or just the front one?

usually I don't like helicoils for most repairs, but this is one place where they do work ok.

if you can find someone to put them in for you cheaper than the cost of the "kit" you have to buy to do it yourself, I would suggest that.

or if you have a place that sells the 10mmX 8mm " step stud" that is more commonly used on exhaust stud repairs, I have used those in the past to fix the front stud, and I think I use one on the rear but had to shorten the 10mm end to make it fit in the carb body and not interfere with the manifold.
just drill carefully on the rear one and use a 10mm x 1.5mm tap.

Another option would be to rethread the studs.

Okay, Bob is right, I may have mis -interpeted the post...

I was referring to "pulled" out threads/ striped in the carb body.... if you just boogared up the threads on the studs, then take them out and get new ones or as Bob states use a 8mm x 1.25mm die and chase the threads to clean them up...
