OK, I've read all about these & think I understand the principle.
My bus has a terrible shudder taking off, less so if I let the clutch out quickly. There's no slipping & otherwise all is fine.
The local mechanic says it's an oily clutch plate...he may be right.
However before I go down that track thought I'd check out the Bowden tube.
Looked OK in situ, with more of a slight S bend than a bow. Took it out without any trouble...looks OK, no rust, no nothing.

I'm going to put it back in using some washer(s) on the male end, as everyone suggests.

My question is...can you put too many washers on?........should I just put one on & see how that goes, then add another if the shudder is still there etc, or should I stick 3 or 4 on straightaway to save time?

It may not solve the problem at all but worth a go.

What does the brains trust think???

Terry

Make sure it is greased nicely inside the tube, a dry tube (whilst haveing the correct bend) can cause the same shudder as it hangs the cable up

I'd say depending on the thickness of the washers 2-4 if they are thin, or 1-2 if they are thick ( like the case half washers from a type1 engine which I use as they fit the male end of the tube perfectly)

For starters of course... you may need to mess with it several times to get it right/better. and if it is the disc it won't seem to have helped much!
