|
|
I need a little help! In March of 2005 I sent my engine for my Fastback off to get a rebuild on it. I paid the builder half up front to get started. He told me the engine would be done around the beginning of June. He ran into a few problems along the way and then pushed the date back a little. No problem. Other things happened and he finally got it finished in October of 2005 and requested I pay him the remaining balance and then he would ship me the engine. He now has my money and I have still never received my engine. It is now Jan. 2006 and I can't get a hold of the builder who has my engine, my carbs I sent him and all my money. Has anyone every experienced anything like this? Does anyone have any suggestions on what actions I should take? |

Is this builder near you. I think you need to be visting his shop very soon. Forget calling on the phone confront him in person.
Sounds like a con man, or a drunk/tweaker .
Hope you can salvage somthing.

Where is the builder?
Maybe someone here can give his "shop" a once over.
Bad situation to be in.
Good Luck

Who in Portland? There are quite a few Portland people on here that could check this place out.
Post up an exact address. _________________ Phillip Bradfield

Post his name/address/phone number so other Type 3'ers in the Portland area can know to avoid him in the future. Hopefully somebody in the area will also be able to pay him a visit and find out what the hell is going on with your engine. _________________ '54 Kombi | '57 356 Coupe | '57 Samba | '62 Notchback | '63 Beetle (36k Original Miles) | '66 Pigalle Sunroof Squareback | '70 Westy |

Yes, but I think Martin is a good guy and all, he has just put me in a bad spot and I just don't know what else to do. |

This seems to happen more often than not with the DDB. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

A bad spot? Putting you off for 6 months is a bad spot?
There's no excuse. It's bad business. |

Ouch... I didn't know that was Martin at the DDB. I'm SURE he will make good on this... have you spoken to him on the phone? _________________ '54 Kombi | '57 356 Coupe | '57 Samba | '62 Notchback | '63 Beetle (36k Original Miles) | '66 Pigalle Sunroof Squareback | '70 Westy |

Why don't you take charge of the situtation? It's your engine and your money. |

I would love to, but he doesn't even answer his phone. So now I get to spend more money either to fly out there or to hire a lawyer. Now I am getting screwed yet again. Life is Good!!!! |
