Front seat removal

OK, what's the secret word you use to remove the front seats from a 1971 Super Beetle convertible? The seat tracks look the same as on my 63 Beetle, you just pull up on the seat adjustment lever and slide all the way forward till the seat comes off the track.

Doesn't seem to work on the 71. My Haynes manual says to slide the seat forward until it stops, then take a screwdrive and press down on the leaf spring. I did just have cataract surgery a month ago, but I don't see anything to press down on. There are plastic inserts over the tracks and they also slide forward. Could it be they are blocking my view?

on the inside track beside the tunnel there is a little lever you have to push down to get the seat to slide off the tracks.
