Does anyone know what kind of socket is needed to take off 944 CV joints? Is it a 6 point allen wrench like the bus CV bolts use, or is it a 12 point like the bug uses? Or is it a completely different tool?

Found a 944 in the junkyard and I am going to get the stub axles and cv's out of tomorrow.

My 944 stuff is packed away in the shed right now but they are just your run of the mill allen or 12 point, not anything "exotic". I know its not a direct answer but I'm sure you have the correct bit for either setup and they both fit easily in your pocket Smile

BTW pm me if you were the one that has/had that Westy fridge in the classifieds

Hopefully it have the 6 point allen bolts. I hate messing with the 12 points.

Most of the ones I have ever pulled off are the 8mm type.

I've got the 12 point bit, and I'm also taking a set of metric allen wrenches with me so hopefully I will have the right tool for the job. If not I guess I'll break out the vice grips... d'oh!

Daniel

Oh yeah, is anyone possibly interested in the axles? If so I will try to get them, too. I probably wouldn't ever use them, but I might just get them anyway in case I ever decide to use a bus tranny and stock trailing arms in a baja.
