I need to shorten the throttle cable on my '73 super by about 1.5 inches to suit my dual carb linkage. Any ideas on the best way to do this? _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia 'vert

get the heavy duty multi strand throttle cable that is cut to length. Solder it where you need to cut it to keep it from unraveling....then cut with a good pair of side cutters. Otherwise there is a common kit available for shortening stick cables...but the heavy duty cables are really the way to go...buy once and forget about it for years. |

I allways use a piece of heat shrink tubing on the end of throttle and clutch cables. It stops fraying and allows much improved grip where tightened at clamps, carb throttle or mating two cables together. I joined a shortened clutch cable a few years ago and have had no slippage. I do the same with my carb. |

both excellent ideas... think I'll solder then heat shrink over it for now.
I found that a '68-'74 T3 w/FI throttle cable is the correct length (2610 mm vs 2642mm) any reason wht this cable wouldn't fit the super? _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia 'vert

hmmm - my cable is a solid wire - just did it on mine. Had a brass tube slipped and crimped over the wire. I used a dremel to remove the old brass, Hit the hobby shop for new tubing and crimped it on. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

cb performance has a nice universal throttle cable that comes with either the early or late end that hooks up to the pedal you cut the end you dont need then it comes with a piece that you slip the end to and tightened down _________________ Praise the Lowered... |
