I am ripping apart my 2.0l and dumping the Fuel injection system but along the way I had sort on a problem. My wiring harness had melted so since I will be running carbs i just cut the wires were they were clean. I noticed after I cut the wires that there was a blue wire connected to the coil that was also split to the the wiring harness that I cut. Im not sure if the blue wire is running to a spark plug or a temp sensor or what, I am going to include pictures to help with getting some answers. I just want to make sure I didnt cut anything I shouldnt have. It makes me wonder how my bus ran with those melted wires?! Help me shed some light on my situation. If I need to be more clear let me know I will take other pictures as these were taken at 2AM.
Thanks,

I think Ratwell means the photo links in your post are broken. They don't show anything or lead anywhere. The most likely blue wire I know of is the one that goes to your oil pressure sender. This is not part of the FI system so you will need it. The blue wire is inside the same wire sheath as the black wire that comes from the ignition and goes to the positive side of the coil. Good luck with your bus.
Just for the record I've got to say don't remove the fuel injection. It's a big mistake. |

Still can't view them. Perhaps they are private urls that only you can see?
Sounds like you need a brass fitting that you can attach the hose to. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

What type of carbs will you be using? You most likely will need a hot wire for the chokes.

Rich, that would be my next question. There are dual single webers 34 icf. Do you know what I need to do in order to hook up a choke? _________________ 4-2-0 Theres no time to be taking your time so spark it up! |
