I was actually going to cut up the 58?? and graft the panels onto a 15 window fleetline, however I've decided that I'm at least going to try and salvage this once cool bus. Stay Tuned for more in March, when I'm home from the states.

If there's any tips or advice you can give me or if you've done anything similar, feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] as I'm open to any ideas, if you want to just say "scrap it", then skip the email and tell it to yourself in the mirror in the morning.

Stay Tuned.

I would say that's a wee bit optimistic, that bus is in a sorry state. I don't even think it's worth your while saving the roof windows, they look pretty shot, and there's companies making repros now if you really want to go that route. Imho that deluxe is long gone, plus it has been vultured, so all the expensive bits are missing. And you paid money for this?

yup, the thing is I'm from South Africa and there are no 23 window busses around. zip zero, buying parts from overseas is impossible so I have to make do with what I have.

I have 2 boxes with stuff in as well, bumpers, trim, glass, sunroof section etc etc.

Yup I paid money for it. Laughing

Europe used the sema`s till 1 june 1960 and the rear corners stopped in august 1963.

When i look good to the photgraph ,i see two hole`s for rear lights.
flatfourfan , can you confirm this or isn`t the bus at home?

What kind of bumpers do you have ,and what shape is the decklid and can you say that its the original one?

The integral reflector rear lights stopped in may 1958 ,so does the brake light in the decklid.

The bus is currently sitting at a friends house, but when I last saw it, I can confirm that it does indeed have two sets of holes out back and both seem to be stock with the top ones being filled sometime along the line.

I have a small pic of one of the bumpers that I've attached. Sorry about the size. Can you make anything out?

The decklid is inside, I'd have to check over Saterday.

The bumper on the pic looks like a ribbed bumper, when it`s the original one you`ll find a decklid with brakelight.
Look at the cargo doors ,they must be flat in the door handle area.

When you go to the bus ,check the engine compartment . On the drivers side for a RHD ,next to the battery tray you`ll find the chassisnumber.

Yup, it's a ribbed bumper. I'll check this weekend and snap some better pictures.

Thanks Cool

If you take that on as a resto, you deserve major applause. I'd love to watch that progress.

Or a slap around the ear-hole. Laughing

I've decided to take it on, I can't justify chopping up a early 23 window unless I've actually tried to straighten it out first. In the words of John Jones, "anything I do to this will only be an improvement"

First thing is to see if the side can be straightened out, I have an appointment with a local wrecker in March who says he'll go at it with Hydraulic Jacks to see how much he can pull out, (he's very optimistic and said I'd be surprised at what they can do), at that stage, I'll decide if I'm going to go on or not.

Gotta at least try save it.
