When attaching the body to my Berrien Chassis, I just am not comfortable with the flat washer on fiberglass. Since the body is "vintage" the glass creeks and pops and groans when torked down. I am using 5/16 button head grade 8 bolts.
If I use 1/8 inch flat bar 1.5 inches wide on top of the glass along the entire top of the body - drilled accordingly, does that present a problem? it just sounds too simple so I thought that I would check... _________________ Flaboyjim

It's a great idea. It gives you a place to attach a roll cage to also. If you look at Murzi's picture you can see his is like that, very nice. I will eventually do mine that way. |

I have that set up on my buggy, I feel it will help to keep the body from distorting where the bolts go thru, spread the stress. Almost 4 years with no problems. One thing, on mine the flat stock hangs about 2 1/2" after the last bolt, this part kind of lifts up a little, would probably look better if this did not happen. |
