I bought a Empi ingition modual and the bus sometimes runs great but sometimes misses. I'm not sure if it is the modual. What experiences have you had with the Empi ignition?

If it says EMPI on it that should tell you something.

Jeremy;

I stuck a Compufire electronic ignition on my bug about 3 years ago. I've never touched it, and the little beast continues to run great. If/when I get another ACVW, I'll do the same thing immediately.

My 2 cents...

I own a VW and off road shop and this in my experiences with the 3 common modules.

Failure rate:

EMPI 25-30%
Compufire 10-12%
Pertronix 5-8%

I stock only Pertronix now.

I yanked the empi out today. It was starting to miss really bad. I think I'll try the pertronix. Guess the cheap way out wasn't so cheap. Live and learn.

I have set up over a dozen petronix in previous rides. It has NEVER done me wrong. I found the compufire kind of "mickey mouse".

I use Compu-fire and it works great. My coil went out shortly after I installed it. Probably a co-incidence but I put in an MSD Blaster 2 coil after that and have not had a problem since.
