Does anyone have specs and pics of this model? I have one and would like to restore it. I'm trying to get a good idea of what it should look like. Thanks. _________________ 78' Champagne Edition Westfalia |

Hi guys. I'm in PA also and have a '78 champagne edition also. That's awesome . Mine is a regular transporter though. . It's nice to know I'm not the only one. What a small world.

I'm in this club too!! Is it a passenger bus or a weekender? I think they came in both flavors? The main thing is Brown. Brown Brown everything brown. Dash, bezels, steering wheel, etc. And most had 3 stripes down the sides. At least mine used to. Not much left in the way of brown on mine. Alot of stuff was replaced with black, or painted. I've never seen a Champagne Westy? I didn't know there was such a thing? _________________ <<<R.I.P. 74' Euro Weekender

I have posted a bunch of pics of my bus in the gallery. Is there anyone in the know that can tell me what I may or may not be missing? Thanks. _________________ 78' Champagne Edition Westfalia |

Only the transporter came with the funky pinstripe. The Champagne edition 2 westfalia is just agate brown and pastel white with all the brown trim and chrome along with the other goodies, clock, intermitent wipers and so on. _________________ 77 Champagne Edition I

Mine did not have a clock when I bought it. Does have intermitten wipers that work, and I have since added the clock. I did not know about the funky stripes. Thanks for the info. I don't think the stripes will be going back on after the repaint. Just too disco 70's for me.

Mine doesn't have intermitten wipers. I'm lucky my wipers work at all do to someone's hackjob on the wiper wiring. Hopefully I can get it all figured out one of these days. One speeds good for now. Now if I could learn to understand the wiring diagrams . I'll figure it out.

You need to click one more time so the pic shows as a .jpg in the address bar. Then copy. Now click the Img button once, paste the URL, then click the Img button again. Done. Let's all start a Champagne Owners club or thread or something !! _________________ <<<R.I.P. 74' Euro Weekender

I think my build date is 8/78. I don't know the vin numbers as I am at work. I'll double check it when I get home and post it up.

I am wondering if they were built in the same vin range/time span as the 1977 Champagne Edition I. They were made from vin 2x7 2118 500 to 2x72 300 000. I have 2 M code plates from 2 of them. Last six of the vins are 121679 and 123917.
I have 1 78 CE II M code plate. It is vin 108971 and build date 3/78.
I had a 2nd one but I sent it to Dave Bolen for his CE II. His bus is here:

Your rear bumper should be chrome witha rubber impact strip, like your front one.
Looks like your bus came with Air Conditioning (with the pop top, i'd imagine the under dash variety). It'd be interesting to know if the under dash vents came in brown to match the rest of the dash or if they were just black like in other busses. I've neevr seen a brown under dash AC unit before.

Mine had the roof air with the york pump. Man that engine compartment pic is freakin' awsome. My bumpers were the chrome with the impact strips (1 strip when I bought it), but were rotted out. I put my 74' bumpers on it which were in much better condition. Where is the m-plate on mine?? Can't find it _________________ <<<R.I.P. 74' Euro Weekender
