Interesting thing happened when I filled up today. I unscrewed the gas cap and it was like opening a liter of Pepsi that had been shaken up. Big release of pressure and some gas spray too.
I did have the gas tank out when I replaced the Master Cylinder but I hooked up all of the gas vent lines as they were.
What would cause the gas tank to pressurize like this even when the expansion lines and hoses are properly hooked up? _________________

Any air pressure inside the tank eventually has to make its way back to the charcoal canister via a small diameter steel tube along the passenger side of the car, down underneath the heater channel, IIRC.
And being steel, it can either rust up, get pinched closed, or otherwise clogged. So open up both ends of that line and see if you can blow air through it. If not, you'll probably need to replace that line. _________________ 68 Beetle
