I was looking at the VIN identification stuff in the technical part of thesamba and it shows that my car was built in May of 1964. Wouldn't that make it a '64 instead of a '65? The pink slip says it's a 1965. _________________ 2017 Golf Alltrack

there was alot of cars titled wrong by dealers.
65's titled as 66's and so on,..i've seen alot of bugs like that.
I don't know if it had to do with selling what was on the lot and titleing it when it sold or not. _________________ Frank

Give us the VIN number. A '65 Notchback should have a 9 digit VIN starting 315.
The LEGAL VIN is under the rear seat stamped into the frame where the tunnel widens back out.

There is an example of a VIN number. That is for a '71 Fastback. Notice the "311" start to the number.
3 = Type 3
1 = Notch or fastback
1 = 1971
Yours being prior to 1970, would be 9 digit and not 10 like this one. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

The VIN is 0474xxx. According to the chart, it was built in May 1964. _________________ 2017 Golf Alltrack

It's a '64. The dealership probably fooled somebody into thinking it was a '65. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Or it was brought to the USA by a serviceman in 1965. Notch's were never sold in the USA, except on the gray market. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey
