I removed my heater tubes and plugged up the holes at the engine tin.
Should I plug up the fan where the tubes connected or just let the air
flow into the engin compartment?
Not sure what's better cool air in the engine compartment or more air
on the heads? |

more air on the heads. because think about what happens when it is hot out side, the tubes are plugged up because you are not using you heater thus forcing more air across the heads which inturn removes more heat. the only set back is you might have a longer warm up time in the winter, however, i cant remember how the thermostat mechanism works on those busses. but i would say plug em' up.

I've seen a lot of people using freeze plugs, makes for a clean looking block-off. I don't know what part # would be the right diameter, but any local parts store should be able to match the size. Make sure it's a tight fit and secured. You can see the left one in this picture of Jeremy Hoggard's bus: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/124265.jpg |
