|
|
I have a 69 bus with a 1600. The turnkey rebuilt engine, and muffler have about 500 miles on them. The heater boxes are used, but appear to be in decent shape. Anyway when I pull my heater control levers the air coming out smells VERY strongly of burning paint or a similar smell. I thought it was probably because the muffler/engine/tin were new but the smell still hasn't burned off after 500-600 miles of driving. Is this normal? Will this smell go away on its own or could I have a problem. There's already snow on the ground at my house in northern ny state and it's mighty cold in my bus without usable heat.
Any ideas, Thanks, John |

The tube down the center is made of a corrugated paper liner. That's the smell your noise is finding unpleasant. Some busses are stronger than others. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

I too would guess it will eventually burn off. You might have some gunk in your heater boxes if they were used. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm going to let it go for now and live without heat for a few hundred more miles to see if it goes away. |
