Out of curiosity, why did you weld the tree bars on? I've always seen them mounted with bosses so as to be removable/replaceable after you've bent the heck out of them...

Its personal preference I suppose. You could always cut the bars off and grind it down smooth before welding new ones on.

I'll be welding them on my Berrien Warrior.
