Both the Judson and the Okrassa kits fetch a pretty big coin. I have always wondered why no one has ever copied and reman. these kits. I don't think the Judson would be hard to remake at all.

With these kits so highly sought after why isn't someone reproducing them???

Thoughts???

To buy a perfectly restored Judson costs around $1700. If they can be remade to the exact specifications of an original for less than that, someone would already be doing it...and they're not.

Same goes for the Okrasa.

How many were manufactured to begin with?

Was this an option sort of like AC where there were not that many made and installed.

I dont know enough about this device or whether or not it can be adapted to anything but stock engines..which leads to the question just how many stock VWs are left out there that can install this without problems. This is more than just upgrading a dizzy or carb.

Not sure how many was made but I have one that will be going on my 58 rag bug. I'm rebuilding a 40hp engine now and think the judson will make it fun.

I recently installed a Judson Supercharger kit, Judson magneto, and Marvel Mystery Oil oiler on my stock 36 HP motor. WHat a difference it made! Had to reset timing to eliminate detonation. Took 3 hours to install but was well worth the effort. Make sure that your deck lid clears the upper supercharger pulley and that you tail light wire is out of the way too. There is a Judson Register that you can find on line. They are in the UK and the site is very helpful. The 36 HP kit will not work on a 40 HP motor. Good luck to you!

If you go to this site you can find all of the answers to your questions. Is adding the Judson Supercharger worth it? It's cheaper than a new motor and is quite a conversation piece. Who else do you know that has one?

Judsons are a sliding vane supercharger... boost varies with engine speed and load.

Hey, I just checked ebay. Several Judsons of different quality levels, but probably worth a look for those of you really interested in them.

Here's the search results.

Realistically 4-5psi depending on what other engine mods you have from stock. We're talking about a vintage supercharger here.
