Howdy Baywindow crowd!
I recently jumped ship and purchased a '78 Westfalia. It is my understanding that the wipers should have more than one speed... but mine only go slow.
Any clues as to what the problem might be?

mine go slow unless I'm driving 55 to 60, than you can tell a difference between the 2 speeds if you look close enough. Put enough RainX on the windshield and it's no problem. And what made you make the jump to the Bays? Saw the pics in the gallery.

LOL Hippie. Although, that camper is cool for sure. If you were closer I would probably take it off your hands.

While not as fast as modern cars, my 71s have two speeds and are fast enough for fairly good rains.

Haven't had to mess with the wiper systems on my buses though, maybe pull out bentley and test out the switch/motor.

Yes, you would have to remove the wiper assembly from behind the dash and lube the wiper spindles and linkage assembly. Recently did mine (72 Westy). I was able to remove the wiper motor and linkage thru the insturment panel, once removed.

If it's your first time doing this it may tale some time. If not, it can be done completely in an hour and a half - two hours.

Probably a good idea to do this job since it more than likely hasn't been done. You should have two speeds. (Slow - Slowest). They don't move quick like new vehicle wipers when on fast.

I think he is referring to this:

$9000 is a pretty big pry bar.

We have two possible scenarios:
1) You're not really a stinkfoot after all, and are just into Bays for the huge profits to be made. Put a groovy new paint job on it and flip it for big bucks:

2) Or maybe your buds are havin' a little fun.
