my bus will start and idle great.... but if i hit the pedal to actually drive anywhere the car with stall (and die about 50% of the time) anyone have any idea on what is wrong? i have a new fuel filter and a new fuel pump already installed.

smoked the points/condenser is my guess
had the same problem 2 weeks ago

Make sure your accelerator pomp is working on the carb. With the engine off, take the air cleaner off. Pull the throttle open while looking down the carb (grab a mirror). You should see a nice stream of fuel come out of the pump jet and shoot straight down the carb throat as soon as you pull open the throttle.

If you have not done an electrical tune up it sounds like time. How old are your plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, etc?

Also, is your air filter dirty?

Eliminate the basics first.

ok... i checked the fuel stream and that was fine... my points were bad so i changed em. the bus ran great for a while. i turned it off and tried it again later and it would not start. then i noticed the carb was leaking gas... here is a pic of where

any idea on what to do now?

looks like your throttle shaft is worn.. lookk for a new carb or get your german one rebushed

Check that your spark plug wires are in the correct places in the cap and going to the correct plugs. It is hard to tell in your picture. Laughing
