so right now the idle in the 60 is a bit high for my likings. its a 28 PCI solex and i was wondering if it might be the manual choke or if it has something to do with the screws? how do i lower it without messing it up to bad.

With the manual choke you can get a high idle if the cable is too tight. Unlike the auto choke, there is no separate adjustment at the choke itself--it's just the cable end adjustment. Then check the idle speed adjustment screw.

Look down your carburator with the choke off and check to see that the choke plate is verticle and wide open. You can adjust it by loosening the clamp on the side of your carb and moving the cable housing to suit your needs. The idle screw is the big screw on your carb that faces the rear of your car. Clockwise increases idle and counter clockwise decreases it. Also, check to see that your return spring, the one on your throttle cable is not binding. If it hangs up your idle will be high.

the idle screw worked. now what happens if the idle is to low?
