I broke the throttle cable in my 70 transporter. Miles from home, I took a hammer and screwdriver (my only 2 tools in the van) and punch a hole in the back deck over the carb. I cut 2 feet of speaker wire off my speaker, ran it through the punched hole and attached it to the carb arm. My friend sat in the back and operated the throttle while I drove. Worked like a charm.

A buddy was drunk over in Laughlin Nevada and the cable broke on his Baja! He took the cord that was on his period correct 1974 vinyl steering wheel cover and stretched it around a lite on the rear cage and around to the window and pulled to go and let off to slow down. It worked!!!!! Drunk and all!!!! It beats walkin I guess! Another '"Bubbafication" success story!
