Plenty. VW parts suppliers sell a spring plate removal tool to make the job safe and easy.

no need, bus spring plates are not preloaded like bug ones. there is no danger in taking them off the ledges

the suspension will not lower with lower profile tires but the bus will be closer to the ground by the difference in sidewall height between the old and new tires.

Sorry. My bad-lowered 1.75 inches with 1.75 inches more wheelwell clearance. Which you'll need. My fronts barely clear the wheelwells.

So 195/50/15s lowers thebus closer to the ground by 3.5" ? doesn't seem that much!! I have a 66 dlx sitting next to it in the garage and it doesn't look that much of a difference.

hey middle... were you at the last winter springs vw show with this bus?? I think I saw it or one like it... the lettering seems familiar.

I don't want it that low, and I don't want to remove anything from the bus yet. Is fliping the boxes ahrd to do ?? do I need any special tool ? I really want to be able to cruise 60-65 if need be.

DAMM that is close. do you hit when you hit a bump or something? If I go with a narrowed beam it should take care of that problem right??

Firzout, you don't need to do anything extreme to cruise 60-65. You can do that with a r/p swap in your big nut setup. Stay with the tallest tires you can get away with, as they have a noticeable effect on top end speed.

Being that low an you dont need to go fast.

Just enjoy the blank stares as the motoring public passes you by on there way to nowhere. Cool
