Trying to identify these seats on my 71 Trasnsporter. Perhaps later bay model? They do have the VAG logo on the frame. Need this info for fixing the upholstery. Included some images, sorry that no upfront version.

They look like later bay window seats to me. I'm not sure if the seat rails in Europe are the same as the US so it would be hard to say what year the seats came from. Seat rails in the US became narrower in 1977, but the later seats will still fit earlier busses. The fit will be loose, but they will fit without a lot of problems. Good luck with your bus. |

By the way, I can't tell much about the fabric because the photos are black and white. It doesn't look like any VW bus fabric or vinyl I have ever seen in the US. |

I can't tell either, but they almost look like there from a Vanagon... _________________ Air and Water are needed to survive,

Vanagon headrest rods are straight, the ones in the pic are curved.
Like Saabs.......? |

My thoughts exactly! Later bay seats might be quite close. The headrest keeps bothering me though. It's way different I figured. Maybe it's exchanged to one from SAAB as Karl figured? I have to check that manufacturing number if that helps at all.
By the way the seats do not sit on the original rails. New ones are welded in and the seats are standing about 15mm higher than originals... Quite good actually ergonomically speaking! _________________ bussen till slussen |

they look very similar to late 70s early 80s water cooled seats. i had the same head rests in an 81 dasher, and the pattern looks similar. _________________ OG JHC
