wondering what is being used when restoring your split seats, i don't think anyone is reproducing the split horsehair pads. are the originals being used if they are in good condition?

The horse hair paddings are made by hand by the upholsterer. I have done several couches and other furniture the same way. And if you have your originals they are reuseable, if not you have two options:

1. Find an upholsterer who can restore them for you, (not easy for him either unless he have not seen how it was originally assembled.

2. Use the foam paddings that are available nowadays... (Not my thing either though ...)

my standard split doesnt have any horsehair in it, just recycled cotton/wool padding the dark grey/black stuff with all the multi colored threads in it made from leftovers and scrap, my 54 and 55 have half horsehair, half natural foam rubber on the edges
