so today i figured out why my bus has been running like crap. the carb! i pulled it off cleaned it all out and put it back together and it stared back up. the thing is it still runs like crap. there's no dirt or any clogged jets. its getting gas and the ignition system is fine. what could be wrong with my carb. its a H30/31PCIT solxe carb. a brazilin one Rolling Eyes i know. could it be the float. i did notice that it had a scratch in it and could gas be filling it up with gas. when i pull it off the intake manifold and was careful about tipping it so that gas wouldn't come out of the back and the float was not floating even though it was full of gas. could this be thr problem?

Well if the float is not well um floating then yes, that could be THEE problem. Of course it could be the valve that the float pushes on that is stuck open so the float is not allowed to float. Maybe you bent something. Do you by chance have an extra carb or know someone that you can borrow their carb?

i have a carb at home but its on a dual port, where as the one in the bus is a single port and i don't know if its the same. i have some people that are going to try and help me get a float. another thing is that after running the engine for a while gas would drip out on both side of the carb by the bottem. it wasn't coming from where the carb bolts to the intake manifold, it was dripping fromo where the accelartor cable connects to the carb and on the adjcet side.

throw it away throttle shaft is worn (dripping gas from sides) as well as possible float issues. and the carbs are different from single to dual port saying that each motor has the correct carb.
if it is worn bad enough to drip you will be able to feel the wiggle or "play" in the shaft causing a vacuum leak poor idle and possible overheating
