i searched the gallery and forums already and had every qestion but one answered. what are the differences between small and big nut tranny backing plates? i'm going to dig through my friend's pile of parts to look for big nut parts. i've never looked at them side by side and every picture i've seen doesn't show any obvious differences..thanks

the early backing plates are held on by three bolts up top, while the later onesa are held on by two.

the early backing plates have a seperate clip to hold the E-brake cable on, with a weldnut on the inside of the backing plate. the later ones have a tube that the cable slides into.

also
the diameters are different. later ones are larger.
where the brake adjuster stars are: on the early ones, they are separated, and angled. on the later ones, they are in the same "holder" and stick out horizontally.
early ones have 4 holes in them for the brake springs (tiny holes around the big central hole. NOT the big holes for the bearing cover bolts).
