|
|
As I posted in the gallery, my car is in primer and is getting the final body work done to it before prep/paint. However I can't decide what colour it should be? I'd like to choose between 2 of my favourite VW colours, Strato Silver and Prairie Beige.

Both of them look great to me, but I can't decide what "theme" I want.
Strato Silver seems more showy, which is a good thing, but at the same time I love how the Prairie Beige looks like you can just get in and drive. Also, the data plate is long gone plus the car was completely stripped so I can't tell what it was originally (thanks 1980's ), so any suggestions about those 2 colours would be appreciated! thanks in advance! |

go with the strato silver, chrome and accessories go so much better with the silver. the beige is so boring. it seems that every low mileage oval that you find nowadays, that granny used to drive to church on sunday is beige. |

Strato Silver & Diamond Green are both great looking colors, so much so that there are too many cars being finished in them. Since it's a '54, go with something more unique & less seen like L276 Ultramaroon. _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

I love Ultramaroon. You never see cars in that color. _________________ Kevin "Wiggy"

Is this really ultramaroon? It doesn't match the paint sample for ultramaroon on the Samba, yet I must admit it does look good...

And I'm guessing from the lack of responses/negative response, that beige isn't going to fly? |

Here's another shot of an ultramaroon car on the far right. (I have to agree, it is a sweet color - but I'll stick with my strato silver for now...)

Damn 80's! Did anything good in the vw world come from the 80's? It seems like all they did was ruin vw's.
Sorry 80's vw guys it was a strange time
I think ultramaroon is way smooth. I'm thinking of that color or colour for my 54. _________________ 1967 Fasty

Well actually, my car is from June 1955. Sorry for the mix-up on the year, but I am partial to the earlier colours anyway. As it stands right now I think I will end up choosing between polar silver, strato silver, and ultramaroon. I do think beige looks a little boring, and the interior doesn't look very nice with a beige dashboard, so I've decided against it. Thanks for the help so far! |

Please don't choose Strato Silver. There are enough cars painted that color. _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

Thanks for all the help with the colour of my car! I am probably going to go with Polar Silver, it seems to be the best choice for a daily driver car, plus it compliments the red interior nicely. Thanks again! |

italian cars.
please notice the rag split and the oval, they have ALSO the original black license plate.
it is about 25% more value in top of the car value in italy.
personally i would give 2 ovals bought outside italy for an original italian oval with OG license plate... |

Yeah. |
I am in the process also of picking a color scheme for my 56 ragtop. The ultra maroon looks interesting and is certainly different.
Stato silver is cool, I like the metalics. Black is always an option and looks good on an old beetle. Diamond greed is nice, but I don't care for the interior options.
Maybe I'll paint it exactly like this one I am actually leaning toward classic black with red interior.
