I grabbed this picture from the gallery. How do these defroster covers come off? My windshield is still in. I'd like to remove them to get inside and vacuum out the ducts. I still smell Junta virus from the giant mouse nest that I cleaned out of the main tube last winter.

There are plastic clips on the bottom. You have to disconnect some
of the plastic tubing to these vents, then reach up under the dash
and "pinch" the clips together and push upwards. The clips spread
apart when installed to grip the dash. This is a little bit of a pain but
doable.
Good Luck,

I just read your post a little closer. I see you wanted to remove
the vents to get inside the tubing. Actually it is not that hard to
remove the tubing under the dash. I don't think you can remove the
vents without first removing the tubing to get better access to the clips.
At least that is the way I have always done it.
Good luck,

A lot of time you can just pull the defroster ducts loose from below with just a little wiggling. Remove the glove box first to give youself easy access with a view. Both ducts can be removed from the passengers side.
You can also sometimes clean the ducts with one of those flexible grabber type tools. I would try that first before I pulled the ducts. |

Thanks for the help. I was able to remove the passenger side grill last night. Now I just need to attach a small piece of hose to the end of my shop vac and snake it in there.
If that doesn't work then I'll try removing the passenger side Y-shaped duct. _________________ 1FUNBUG
