What makes you think it has any correlation to VWs? The swastika could mean anything.

That fact that it was found in a VW is interesting, but could just be a coincidence. Are there any markings other than the swastika?

Confused It is not the early "sun wheel" swastika seen on KDF items. I would date it post '41 at the earliest.

That's an alligator wrench. For working on pipes and boilers. Nothing to do with cars.

I don't know. I remember when I used to go to train collector shows there were guys who collected them, and they were kind of a big deal if they had the right markings on them.

Here's some on ebay

It would be neat to know if the guy your dad bought the car from worked for a railroad or a shipyard or something.

The car was imported from Germany. I wasn't sure what it was. Doubt I'd sell it just curious about it. But for 8 bucks it will sit in the Garage for another 20 years. And Nick its Mr. BigTimer Rolling Eyes

I think this is just a coincidental marking. It is probably 20 to 30 years before the German use of the mark.
