I have a homemade trike, chassis and block are 67 beetle with 1600 jugs and dual ports. The carb is a Solex 34 PICT-3. I have developed an idle problem. The motor starts fine and idles fine until auto choke warms up, then I have to continually pump the throtle to keep it running. Runs fine at high rpms on highway but I have to down shift to lower than normal gears and play with throttle and clutch at speeds under 40 mph. I suspected the idle cut off valve(solenoid) but have checked it out and it seems to be functioning properly, clicks everytime 12v is applied. Fuel filter looks ok, fuel pump is almost new.

Anybody have any suggestions before I rebuild the carb. BTW, I just found this site yesterday and this is my 1st post. Looks like a great site. Very Happy

Welcome to the site.

Before you tear the carb apart, check for cracked intake manifold boots, loose manifolds, or worn out gasket at carb base. Is your carb dripping fuel from the throttle shaft?

A slight vacuum leak may give you symptoms like this.

If all looks well and you DO decide to tear the carb apart for a cleaning/rebuild, look here:
