Holy Cow...that means (2) Toy Drives in 2 days.
A NAG Toy Drive meet on Friday nite and a planned B.L.T.N. Toys for Tots Show-N-Shine/Christmas Lights Cruise (still planning in the works) for Saturday, December 9th.

The NAG toys could just be added the BTLN toys the next day Wink

Hey that sounds like a good idea we could add them to there drive. It all helps the same cause. Im planing on droping the engine to refresh/upgrade the top end new Heads and cylenders. I might end up waiting till after the December meet so i can bring the VW. It may take awile to free up enough time to put it all back togather . Time to start looking for toys Smile .

So I am asking for help. I don't have a garage and I need to remove my engne and check it out. I'll buy the beer..........

It could also be a worn or broken clutch cable hook on the pedal assembly:

It should look like this:

Pull the peddle cluster and see if your peddle is binding up. That a good time to clean and lube your cluster at the same time.
Jim, those are very good photos of that broken hook. Good luck with your find. Wink

I called Phil and mentioned he can come down my house Thursday for a look-see. (I) am not up on the makings of a bug. If any of you know that you'll be home tomorrow night, maybe PM me your number in case questions arise. I think I have an old chiltons around here somewhere, but nonetheless.

Peace, Regis

Tomarrow I'll check the pedal assembly, but I think it may be something else...my clutch pedal vibrates when i don't have any pressure put on it, but when I press it in, it feels mushy and when I accelerate, it feels like the clutch is slipping....

sounds like you are in need of a clutch. possibly oil on it too (cause of slippage), likely from bad main seal. the chattering is indictive of bad pressure plate or throw out bearing.

you can get the the whole clutch kit, including pressure plate, clutch disk and TO bearing for around $70 and the rear main seal for around 5-8 bucks or so. a couple of hours to pull the engine and replace the clutch and your go to go.

you should also beg, buy, borrow or steal (well maybe not steal Wink ) both of these tools, if you dont already have them.

not a bad idea to inspect them when the engine is out. also you can check other things as well. like if your oil cooler seals are shot, replace them and pushrod tube seals etc..

beer is a good thing...but mostly for after your done working. Very Happy

It sounds like there on the right track on the problem. If the clutch feels mushy and is sliping the pressure plate comes in to play in both of those areas. I would check you clutch cable wile your at it i had one that was fraying and stretching . After i pulled the engine out i thinking i had a through out bearing problem i figured i might as well replace the cable and there it was. About half of the cable was left . If i was,nt working OT like i have been doing for the last two months id try to give you a hand. Do you have trany mount problems ? A bad nose cone or mount could posible let the engines weight tip down and cause a bind .

Regis and i removed the engine and the pressure plate. The Pressure plate (diapham type) looks bent, not the back of it, but on the front where it connects to the throw out bering. if you look at it from the side you can see that it is not parallel with the rest of the pressure plate. What might cuase this? I can take a picture and post it so its easier to understand. Tomarrow I am buying a new clutch kit. Any difference between the diapham type of pressure plate, and the one with the three fingers?
